Why a Document Checklist Matters

Missing one document can delay or cause refusal of your visa. Each embassy publishes requirements separately, formats differ, and new conditions are added regularly. Working through a checklist keeps you organised and avoids the panic of discovering a missing paper the morning of your appointment.

How to Use This Tool

Pick your visa type from the dropdown. The checklist loads automatically. Tick items as you collect them. Your progress persists while the page is open. Print the final list to carry to your appointment.

Universal Document Tips for Pakistanis

Bank Statements

Get a stamped bank statement from your bank branch โ€” not a printout from online banking. Embassies prefer 6 months of history (3 months for Schengen) with the bank's official stamp and signature on each page. The closing balance should comfortably exceed the cost of your trip, with consistent deposits showing genuine income.

Employment Letter (NOC)

Letter should be on company letterhead, signed by HR or Director, and include: your position, join date, salary, approved leave dates (matching your travel), and confirmation of return. Not more than 1 month old.

Property Documents

If you own property in Pakistan, include the registry/allotment letter. This shows "ties to Pakistan" โ€” evidence you'll return home. Important for first-time visa applicants.

Business Documents (Self-Employed)

SECP incorporation certificate (if company), NTN certificate, bank account statements (business account), tax returns for last 2 years, letterhead showing your role.

Previous Travel History

Any previous visas (used or expired) strengthen your application. UK, Schengen, US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan visa history significantly improves approval odds for new applications to Western destinations.

Photographs

Each country has its own photo specification. UK requires 45x35mm; US requires 2x2 inches (5x5cm); Schengen 35x45mm. Use a professional photographer who prints visa photos โ€” do not use smartphone photos. Photos taken within last 6 months.

Common Reasons Pakistanis Get Refused

  • Insufficient funds โ€” bank balance doesn't match travel cost + living expenses
  • Weak ties to Pakistan โ€” single, unemployed, no property, no family dependents
  • Unexplained large deposits โ€” sudden cash deposits before application look suspicious
  • Inconsistent itinerary โ€” hotels in one city, visits planned to another, no transport
  • Poor cover letter โ€” missing purpose, dates, who's paying
  • Document discrepancies โ€” name spellings different across documents

Translation and Attestation

Documents in Urdu generally need to be translated to English for UK, US, Canada and Schengen applications. Use a certified translator. Some embassies require attestation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Islamabad) for certain documents like educational certificates for study visas.
