Last updated: October 2026 · 8 minute read

Malaysia is one of the easier Asian destinations for Pakistani travelers thanks to online visa facilities. This guide covers both the eVisa (full visa) and eNTRI (travel registration), with step-by-step application details.

Two Options for Pakistanis

Malaysia eVisa

  • Validity: 3 months from issue date
  • Stay allowed: up to 30 days per entry
  • Entries: single entry
  • Fee: approximately $50 USD (visa fee + service charge)
  • Processing: 2–3 working days
  • Extendable: yes, by 30 days once in Malaysia

Malaysia eNTRI

  • Validity: 3 months from issue date
  • Stay allowed: up to 15 days per entry
  • Entries: single entry
  • Fee: approximately $20 USD
  • Processing: within 24 hours
  • Extendable: no
  • Must enter via designated airports (KUL, Penang, Johor Bahru etc.)

Which One Should You Choose?

Choose eVisa if:

  • You plan to stay more than 15 days
  • You want flexibility to extend
  • You're traveling for business

Choose eNTRI if:

  • Short holiday — up to 15 days
  • You want faster, cheaper processing
  • You're entering via a major airport

How to Apply for eVisa

Step 1 — Visit Official Portal

Apply at malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my. Beware of imitation sites that charge extra fees.

Step 2 — Create Account

Register with your email. Verify via confirmation email.

Step 3 — Fill the Application

Enter passport details, travel dates, purpose, Malaysia address, flight bookings, and contact information.

Step 4 — Upload Documents

  • Passport data page (scan)
  • Recent photograph (passport size, white background)
  • Confirmed return flight ticket
  • Hotel booking or address of stay
  • Bank statement showing adequate funds

Step 5 — Pay the Fee

Credit/debit card payment through the portal.

Step 6 — Receive eVisa

Within 2–3 working days, your eVisa arrives by email as a PDF. Print and carry on arrival.

How to Apply for eNTRI

Same portal, select eNTRI instead of eVisa during application. Document requirements are similar. Processing is faster (usually within 24 hours).

Required Documents (Both)

  • Passport valid 6+ months with 2 blank pages
  • Return flight ticket (confirmed)
  • Hotel booking or inviting party's address
  • Bank statement — last 3 months
  • Employment letter or business proof
  • Photo (passport style, white background)

On Arrival in Malaysia

Immigration officer scans your eVisa or eNTRI. Keep ready:

  • Printed eVisa/eNTRI
  • Passport
  • Return ticket
  • Hotel booking
  • Proof of sufficient funds ($50/day minimum recommended)

Officer stamps your passport with entry date and stay duration.

Common Rejection Reasons

  • Insufficient funds in bank statement
  • Weak employment or business documentation
  • Previous overstays in Malaysia or other countries
  • Vague travel purpose
  • Blurred document scans

Visa-Free Alternatives Through Malaysia

Transit Without Visa (TWOV)

If connecting through Kuala Lumpur (KLIA/KLIA2) with less than 24 hours before onward flight and staying in transit area, no visa is required.

Visa On Arrival (VoA)

Available for Pakistani passport holders coming from Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, or Brunei as a tourist, but requires meeting specific criteria. Not reliable as a primary plan.

Working or Studying in Malaysia

eVisa and eNTRI are strictly for tourism. For work, you need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass (minimum salary RM 5,000). For study, a Student Pass is required.
